Triple Crown 2012
This last weekend we held our annual Triple Crown event. It hosts three of our in town classics. The stats work out something like 60km distance with an elevation ascent and descent of 8200′. The day started of early with warm temps but with the prospect of rain. Luckily for the 57 starters there was just a small amount of precip on the first leg.

Mountain Biking in the Kootenay Alpine
It has taken forever this year, and in quite a few bowls and ridges the snow still remains but a lot of the incredible alpine around Nelson has started to open up and offer up some great big rides! Past weekend offered up 12,710 ft of descending in two rides!
After an incredible day it was decided that more was needed and we headed off to Rossland to do another great Kootenay descent. From the Seven summits trail most people pedal right by Old Glory but there is an incredible ride from the top of that bad boy all the way down to the Columbia river.
Feels so good to up high in the mtns and ripping singletrack that only gets ridden a handful of times a year. Sadly the days are getting shorter but there is still plenty of time to get some more great rides in. Hope you are doing the same!
Dirt Tours Nelson and Night Riding
Some Good Reasons to Night Ride
So combine the facts that I run a small mountain bike tour business here in Nelson, BC and work a semi-full time job as well, it means that opportunities to actually find chances to feed my riding addiction can be a bit challenging at times. But, I have been lucky enough to get my hands on a Hope Vision Two LED night light and all of a sudden, the window for shredding trails is wide open.
Never mind the ability to avoid the beat-down from the heat of a long summer day, or getting some needed saddle time when the amount of daylight is shortening, but take a look at these photos I was lucky enough to capture on my own night rides, and if this doesn’t make you want to go out and try it for yourself, well, then I don’t know what else I can say.
